To Diary
Monday
Miwa and I had to file our tax returns today. Instead of confusing forms and a deadline, we met with a Town Office official who told us what to write where. We even got a little tax back - nice!
After tidying we went to Omiya for a ‘reunion dinner’ with Duncan and Miwa’s family. I ended up having my first Eikaiwa class with Miwa’s mum & her friends, and enjoying it too. After that Duncan, Miwa, Miwa’s dad and I had an onsen at Forestopia. They’ve made some changes to the onsen, but Duncan and I were disappointed - no plunge pool, no sauna, just more lockers and showers. I hope the manager Nose-san can build the onsenin the river he’s been talking about soon. Note: that’s No-say-san, the romanji version looks kind of funny :-)
Tuesday
We have switched Beauty Salons for the Japanese wedding - a friend of Miwa’s knew someone. So today we got to do the kimono and hakama fittings again. Watching Miwa get a wedding wig fitted was even funnier this time ;-) Unfortunately she’s made me promise not to upload any photos (at least before the wedding service). I’m thinking the wedding might be interesting to blog - I’m not knowledgable enough in anything else I’m writing about to be interesting to non-family members ;-) Maybe.
We also saw Lord Of The Ring(s): The Two Towers again (In Japan it’s been converted into katakana as “Ringu” rather than “Ringuzu” - maybe they got fixated on the whole “One Ring to roule ‘em all” thing). We joked that it was so uncoolly ‘last year’ on it’s fourth day in Japan - damn late release dates. It was great to see it again, and seeing Middle Earth again is making me more homesick than I’d been in the first two years of living here. Weird.
