To Diary
Typhoon #10 is approaching, and looks like it’ll be a good one. So far there have been some record rainfalls down in Kyūshū・九州, I think as much as a third of the year’s rainfall in one day. With +9 meter waves heading this way, tonight could be exciting. We shouldn’t have to worry - the apartment is 23.5 meters above sea level ;-) The only problem is I’ll probably be in Matsusaka・松阪市 for a class that will be cancelled, leaving Miwa to fend for herself. She doesn’t like typhoons, but I think they’re pretty cool (just like lightning). Maybe we should swap!
Update: The typhoon has definitely arrived - the rain is flying horizontally, and the waves sound huge. My evening class was cancelled so I get to stay. I’m impressed the rain can completely drench the verandah windows, considering the verandah is two meters wide and roofed. The house is surrounded by strange sounds, exciting yet slightly unsettling. Japanese weather, always somthing to keep you on your toes.
