To Diary
It’s Christmas Eve, and I’m feeling great. Miwa and I just had our 1 year anniversary, and we celebrated with a meal at Café Noir last night. Café Noir is a small French-style restaurant in Ago-chō ・(阿児町) serving fantastic (yet cheap?!) food run by an acquaintance of hers. We had an amazing meal — I had:
- Parma Ham entrée
- Baby lobster and scallop with seafood bisque sauce entrée
- Half a lobster baked in citrus and pesto sauce entrée
- (Incredibly tender) duck drizzled with honey and balsamic vinegar
- Crème brûlée, chocolate and banana fudge cake, and white chocolate mousse
- Coffee and shiffon cake
She had a slightly different course, so we ended up sharing about 9 different dishes(!) — amazing food. We continued at home with a bottle of Champagne and lots of reminiscing about our first year (well about the last four and a half really).
In other news, we’ve just booked tickets to Australia for my cousin Jol and his beau Rocky’s wedding in March 2004. On top of that we’re planning a trip to Canada to see friends in Vancouver (and Seattle too — hopefully on a road trip).
Miwa’s parents’ house is coming along really well. It was great to meet one of the craftsmen yesterday, and seem him at work. Almost everything is being done traditionally, and the quality is amazing. I’ll have to buy a digital camera and post some photos.
All in all, I’m feeling unusually full of seasonal festive spirit. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you all!
